FTDNA TMRCA Chart

Below is a STR mutation based chart that was produced by FTDNA’s population geneticist to replace the older TiP tool. It uses STR genetic distance calculations to give a rough estimate for the Time to the Most recent Common Ancestor between to Y-DNA kits. It was produced in 2022. More accurate dating can be found using FTDNA’s New Discovery tool found here – https://discover.familytreedna.com/ The dating at the Discovery tool is SNP mutation based and also factors in STR based genetic distance producing a more refined dating estimate. The estimates there are given on a bell curve with a mean date. Similar dating is given in the STR based chart below.
