The Campbells of Barbreck begin with John Annam Campbell, the son of Colin Iongantach. His brother was Dougall Mor, the progenitor of the Campbells of Dunstaffnage and also Lord Duncan Na-Adh (Argyll) that carried on the “chiefly line”. Since both of those lines have tested R-BY58693, it is expected that old Barbreck will be the same result. That line continued when Old Barbreck daughtered out with their genetic cousins the Campbells of Inverliver which should also carry this major mutation R-BY58693. The title passed to Colin Campbell in Craignish, an illegitimate son of the 4th Earl Archibald Campbell (Argyll) giving what could be a different haplogroup for the new Barbreck incarnation. Further testing downstream is required.
Expected haplogroup: R-BY82148 is suspected
