In my opinion the association of MacTavish-Campbells (both branches!), which includes the Clan MacTavish chiefly line (under R-FT66561) despite what the CCSNA website states, with the Campbells of Inverawe is key to resolving the exact, or nearso, origin for the MacConnochie-Campbells or sons of Duncan. It’s the legendary account of Clan Campbell for the origin of MacTavish (or Tavish, be that as it may) that point the way for Inverawe and the others (Duncan Campbell and Mary Ramsay). The relationship of these MacTavish-Campbells is beyond dispute because of the BigY test results. They absolutely do share a common ancestor with the Campbells of Lochow at the R-FGC10124 level of the haplotree. They also share a common ancestor with the Campbells of Inverawe at the R-FT66561 level of the haplotree. It does not matter much, for our purposes at the moment, whether Colin Maol Math was in the direct line of Lochow or if he was a brother to the direct line ancestor, the Y-DNA and its SNP at that point would be the same (R-FGC10124).

Associated names: MACCOLM, MACCOLMBE, MACLAWS, MACLEHOSE, MACTAUSE, MACTAVISH, MACTHOMAS, TAWESON, TAWESSON, THOMAS, THOMASON, THOMPSON, THOMSON
