- Diarmid Alexander Campbell writes: Archibald was mentioned as the predecessor of Dougall of Invarawe in the Charter of 1485. This line is likely descended from Duncan "Sceodnasch" Campbell (Ref#5b) who was the brother of Sir Colin "iogantach" Campbell of Lochawe (6). This relationship is mentioned in the History of the Campbells, Volume1.
Archibald, first of Inverawe, must have died between 1478 and 1485 (vide infra). This could have meant that he, the first MacConnochie Campbell of Inverawe, was great-grandson of Duncan Skeodnasach Campbell, brother to Sir Colin iongantach Campbell of Lochawe who died in 1412.
There may be an additional generation missing in my tree.
The progenitor Duncan Skeodnasach could have named his son Archibald after his own father Gillespic, lord of Lochawe, and this Archibald have called his son Dougall who could have been followed by Archibald, first of Inverawe. This number of generations would parallel those known for the family of the Campbells of Lochawe during that period.
