Strirnet states: "There appears to be some confusion on Walter's wives. BLG1937 identifies his 1st wife as Anne, daughter of Sir James Stuart of Ardvorlich and widow of MacDonald of Sana, but TSP (Bute) suggests that the widow of Macdonald of Sana was the following Anne Stewart (daughter of Sir James Stewart, 1st Bart of Ardmaleish and of Kirktoun, Sheriff of Bute).

However, it is possible that this Anne may be this Anne. This is to be reviewed in due course."
