Archibald Campbell was born on 11 July 1759 - a lieutenant in the 74th Highlanders Regiment fought in America Revolution in December 1777 and returned from America in 1784. He was Stationed in Maine and Nova Scotia. Upon return He became a Writer(lawyer ) in Edinburgh
