James Campbell, of Kernoch, styled as second brother to John Campbell of Edinample when served heir provisional to the lands of Edinample on 29 August, 1677, and obtained the lands of Kernoch by 6 May, 1696, when he received an Inventory of Writs for Innergeldie and Kingarth from John Campbell of Barcaldine.
