- At Martinmas 1303, Richard de Keith complained to King Edward that the marriage of Andrew Crawford's heiress daughters, now claimed by Sir Neil Campbell, had already been given to him. From an endorsement on the document, it would appear that the gift to Sir Neil had in fact been made, but the matter was placed before the King's Council, who took over the girls' ward and forbade Sir Neil to marry the younger daughter before they had come to a final decision. Sir Neil was in trouble, however, since he had already married the girl. In danger of being held in contempt of the Council, he pleaded that, at the time, she was not under their jurisdiction
